Nutrition literacy
Protein intake estimate
Soft gram-per-day ranges for general education. Not medical nutrition therapy.
≈ 54 g/day baseline floor
Activity-oriented educational band: about 82–109 g/day.
Soft ranges only — not medical nutrition therapy.
What this result means
This estimator offers a soft daily protein range based on body weight and activity style. It is educational meal-planning literacy — not a prescription diet and not medical nutrition therapy.
Protein needs rise with some training goals, older age (to help preserve muscle), pregnancy, and certain recovery situations — those cases need individualized professional guidance.
How we calculate it
- Baseline educational range often discussed for generally healthy adults: about 0.8 g protein per kg body weight per day (RDA-style floor, not always an optimal target for every goal).
- More active / strength-focused educational range shown here: about 1.2–1.6 g/kg/day as a common sports-nutrition discussion band for many healthy adults.
- We show both a conservative floor and a higher activity-oriented band so you can see the spread — not a single ‘perfect’ number.
Limitations
- Kidney disease and some metabolic conditions require clinician/dietitian protein guidance.
- Does not assess diet quality, amino acid completeness, or calorie balance.
- Does not diagnose malnutrition or prescribe supplements.
